A local fabricator didn’t respond to the Consultation on a road widening and pedestrian crossing alteration scheme. The subsequent Client change from overhead signal (direct crossing) to central island (split crossing) complicated matters, in that he cannot now move his (very) abnormal loads through the (still wide) gap between the signal poles, and needs to drive around the new island with Police assistance. He requested the signal poles be moved further back (and presumably the head position too), but was advised his load couldn’t overhang the crossing point and that two lines of traffic would form, etc. Just a lesson all round!
