Your issue here could be 450mm clearance to street furniture. At 400mm to centre of pole, you will have around 350mm clearance from channel line to the pole. If the pole has a signal head on it, the clearance could be further reduced. TD50/04 para 2.39 refers.

Good afternoon. Can anyone point me in the direction of any regs/guidance on a minimum distance between a pole (pushbutton) and the edge of carriageway for a toucan crossing (or puffin crossing even)? In order to avoid a gas main, a client wants to modify a design to move a pole to so that there is approx. 400mm from pole centre to edge of carriageway. However, I’m not comfortable with this as this could push a bike wheel into the carriageway when the rider approaches to push the button. But I can’t find any advice. Any ideas?
