Simon is there any further news on updates to the above TSMs to take into account TSRGD 2016? I think it was initially suggested that Chapt 3 might be out around Mar but maybe I got that wrong.

Drafts of all the above chapters have been circulated to a limited group of organisations (which includes the IHE Signs Panel) for peer review. IHE and others have submitted a large number of comments, so I think it will take DfT some time to process these and produce the final versions of these chapters. I would guess that September 2017 is the earliest we are likely to see them.
In the drafts we have seen, not all that much has changed. Whilst they explain the new flexibilities and signs have been inserted or updated as necessary, there is only limitied guidance as to how to use the new freedoms. The draft documents seem to be more an explanation of what is legal, rather than helping authorities to make the decisions that now become their responsibility.
Chapter 3 has had more work done, but keeps the previous recommendations for the frequency of all types of repeater sign. It now covers most regulatory road markings, moved from Chapter 5.
Chapters 1, 6 and 7 have also been produced in draft for peer review.1st September 2018 at 11:01 am #3993
Nearly 18 months later. Are we any nearer to the above Chapters being published do we know? If there hasn’t been much change that’s fair enough but it would be useful to have a rough idea.1st September 2018 at 11:02 am #3994
I gather there are production problems delaying Chapters 4, 5 and 7, which are editorially ready. (Proofs are coming back with layout and formatting errors that were not in the original.) But I think we will see them by the end of October. Chapters 3 and 6 (with more changes, or completely new in the case of TSM6) are still being worked on at DfT, but are on target to be out well before the end of the year.1st September 2018 at 11:02 am #3995
At the SignPlot user group yesterday, DfT indicated that they were optimistic of improving on the above timings. Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 7 could be out before the end of the September (i.e. within 2 weeks), and chapters 3 and 6 by the end of November.1st October 2018 at 11:02 am #3996
There isn’t (yet) anything on the DfT website about the new TSM chapters, so is it a safe bet to assume everything is likely to be in November?1st October 2018 at 11:02 am #3997
Does anyone know if Chapter 3 will retain current recommendations on repeaters or be less prescriptive?1st October 2018 at 11:02 am #3998
The last draft I saw had identical repeater spacings to the current edition. The only exception was for speed limits, for which the column relating to their use on alternate sides of the road has been removed.
