We believe the RA to be suitable.
We only allow contractors to turn signals off themselves at a few standalone pedestrian crossings, and only for one night overnight works where portable signals are to be used nearby and/or where the crossing point is to be disturbed.
This practice is one that has existed for quite a while, and given the comments and procedures apparent in other areas it is probably not as appropriate as it once was, so I think I’ll look at getting it reviewed and a formal charging procedure implemented in my copious spare time.
